our roads
So today the president of Uganda will grace us with a state of nation address . Am one of those girls that live in their own world and just found out it happens annually. So lets get to the pink elephant in the room.
My issue with this country is pretty simple we are so statistical we have you know figures on this and that and alot of work done on paper.....sadly that is where most of it ends.
Our roads in the city are deplorable, I personally think they look for the guy that does the shoddiest job and award him the contract. Our roads are so bad that if you had an emergency requiring an ambulance you would have conflicting loyalties either you hurry up bump your patient around and aggrevate their pain or take it really slow and risk losing the patient all together. Some potholes in our roads are so huge you could start a fish pond in them. Our potholes have been known to be a trap for small cars.
Then the drainage system... wait we have one? On a day when the rain decides to fall in rather large amounts most of the roads located near wetlands become impassable.... lets not mention the areas of Bwaise, Kalerwe and on occasion Banda. In these areas people dread the rain because you are constantly unsure if you are going to have a peaceful night or whether you will spend all night hauling out water......of course they have to grapple with water borne diseases like cholera, seeing as when it floods the latrine contents seep into the flood waters.
Then for those that travel up country and for years have only known murram road and its disastrous when there is a down pour because impassable become the lesser word to use in this case.
Am not saying all roads are bad am just saying a very large percentage of them are. so i do hope in your state of address you have it some where to work on our roads
