stay in your lane........

We all love the finer things in life....... a good house, the dream car. Yes i can see you close your eyes and enjoy the view in your head. Snap out of it.
Let's be honest, we all want those things but most of us are not willing or able to shoulder the standard of living. W
e are the sort of generation that burden our standard of living on parents, spouses, banks( yes we know you take loans to impress us), friends, relatives the list is really endless.

Of course we have people who are an exception to the rule...those who toil night and day to ensure they have what they desire to all those who are living the life out of your own pocket( hopefully nt embezzling government money and not passing it off as your own) I salute you! send us your stories of how it can be done.
So why do we realy live beyond our means ? here are some pointers..
1.peer pressure
This has always really been the one problem society has failed to tackle efficiently. imagine all your peers from school, work are living the life...they all have cars, the latest gadgets, latest fashion trends. What we usually forget to look at is that they most times have jobs to support their way of life. Kati now you with your 400k per month wants to fit in with your peers and voila....the cycle starts, the boyfriend either gets you the car or you are out! You make specific birthday demands and threaten how all hell will break loose if they don't buy you the Samsung S4. shut up and take a seat! Be realistic, if these peers are truly your friends am certain you do not have to buy things to fit-in. If your gang or close buddies  think you need to leave beyond your means to hang with them ....my advise to you is trash them. Your peers having things that you don't have should be an inspiration to work smart is working hard is nt paying off.
2.parental pressure
So you are done with uni and finally get your ka-job. You see as we are growing up our parents have expectations of us. Let's say you are a lawyer, doctor,engineer....yes those big titled jobs that are associated with big money.

Sometimes its not even the job tittle bt the company name which gets you in trouble. Not many people succumb to this pressure  bt those who do are usually in deep. we forget to explain to our parents that despite company name or profession there is stiff competition for jobs and hence most times this squeezes the payment we  receive. So when questions like " how come you don't have this when so and so's child who you graduated with has it?" be sure to tell  your parent your pay grades are different.( hmmmm the guy might also be kazinda's buddy)
People have gotten loans to buy luxurious items so that their parents can be proud.
My take is simple on this one , our parents will be proud of us if they know we are working hard and fighting to get a better life. Also we understand that certain profession looks like they pay alot( yes in the days when studying was mob serious and nt just to  get a degree) but the realities of today is that it takes quite abit of time in a company before your salary scale can advance.
I know saying it is easy that we can all all live within our means and if you are doing it am proud of you but a large number of people are living a lie trying to impress others.like a workmate of mine says stay in your lane.
.It wont kill you to stick to your budget. it pays not to have banja every month. In short have financial discipline use what you have and save up for what you desire and soon enough you will have it.
In my grandmother' s words stop having roaming eyes. This is constantly looking at what others have and forgetting to be thankful for what you have. We all have seen these people. those who are ever  " ehmama you have  harrier... kale now i nid to change from a vitz". shut up and stay in your lane. be grateful that you have a  car and stop your eyes from  roaming. what of those without cars or those aspiring for the vitz (yes those of us who want a vitz and you are making it look less of a car!)

finally its ok to dream big  but dream realistic....those of you who want  things that are really really out of your range ( am killing the dream of jet- wanters unless you are planning  to marry bill Gates's children ) lets stop chasing the wind .
Thats its folks have a lovely 2014.
